History

Croton Watershed-TU was founded in 1972 and we now have over 500 members. Our territory includes the extensive cold-water fisheries of Westchester and Putnam Counties.

Meetings

The Chapter meetings are at 7:30pm on the third Thursday of the month at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 197 Manville Rd, Pleasantville, NY. Most of the meetings feature a guest speaker.

Activities

The Chapter activities include eight-week schools in fly-fishing and fly-tying classes for our Adult Education Program; stream water quality testing and monitoring; stream restoration projects to prevent bank erosion and projects to clear deadfalls that negatively impact the stream flow. We are also working with partnership agencies for ongoing studies on non-point source pollutants that are entering waterways within the Chapter's area. The Chapter also sponsors and oversees "Trout In-The Classroom" programs in 7 public school districts and the local Boys/Girls Club. The Chapter also sponsors an annual Scout Day and a new member fishing day. For 2004, they have also extensively revised the Chapter’s guidebook "A Fly Fisherman's Guide to Fly Fishing the Croton Watershed". Croton Watershed -TU also sponsors multiple fishing trips each year, two which are weekend trips to the Catskills, Adirondacks or Pennsylvania. The chapter Partnerships include USEPA, NYSDEC, NYSDOT, NYCDEP and various local municipalities. Our flagship event is our annual dinner.
